Brother Vincent Reyes is the Pastoral Director of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen of Detroit, but he's also a photojournalist who has enjoyed capturing the stories of people's lives on film for more than thirty-five years.
As a Brother in the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin since 1961, Brother Vincent has served in local Parishes, worked in Migrant Ministry, and spent twelve years as a Retreat Director.
After assignments in South and Central America, he returned to the United States to be a Vocation Director for the Capuchins. Prior to his duties at the Soup Kitchen, Brother Vincent for eleven years was the Chaplain in a major trauma center in the Chicago area, spending almost all of his time with families in the emergency room as they faced unexpected tragedy and sorrow in their lives.
Brother Vincent was born in Gary, Indiana, the second oldest of six children. Kids who eat at the Soup Kitchen know him for his "Veggie Patrol" as he roams the cafeteria during dinner making sure the little ones eat all their broccoli.
